In the world of THE SETTLERS - RISE OF AN EMPIRE, your settlers not only have the seasons to contend with, but also the challenges of four different climatic zones.
A year in THE SETTLERS - RISE OF AN EMPIRE has twelve months and four seasons. These seasons pose a particular challenge for the settlers; they have needs all the year round, but the resources required to fulfill those needs are not always available. It is important, therefore, to plan ahead and adapt to the different climatic zones. What is right for one region can mean certain famine in another.
Grain, for example, will not grow if it is too cold. Fishing is not possible in waters that are frozen over. Wild game is harder to find and cannot be hunted as intensively. During the hot summer months, you should always keep an eye on your water supply. The cattle on the pastures must be supplied with water, and if it is very dry, a fire can break out, or stocks in the warehouse can spoil.
The world of the settlers is divided into four climatic zones :
-
The raw climate of the north is marked by particularly long, harsh winters and short summers. Here you must be very careful with your resources and make good use of the abundant fish and wildlife !

-
The climate of the middle latitudes is milder, and the seasons are fairly balanced. It snows in the winter, and the summers are warm and relatively dry.

-
Further to the south, summers are hotter and longer. There is no snowfall during the winter months. This means that it is easier to get through the winter, but this comes at a price - fertile soil is not as abundant as in the north. Think carefully about where you build your farms!

-
The far south is the hottest region. In the steppes and deserts, the relentlessly burning sun is a real challenge, as farming and cattle breeding are only possible near isolated rivers and oases.
